Our history
Built on a solid foundation
Norsk Test was established in the summer of 2001, building on the success of its parent company Datakortet. Datakortet had developed both the methodology for describing and measuring digital skills and an advanced web-based testing tool. Both were well ahead internationally: the systems were in use in more than 100 countries, and the company had its own subsidiaries in Russia and Tunisia.
The company started with an office in Oslo and three employees, in addition to the services bought from Datakortet. The largest projects by volume have been the boating licence test and the authorisation of financial advisers. Over time the other owners withdrew, the Oslo office was closed, and all operations were moved to Kirkenes and integrated with Datakortet’s organisation.

A network from day one
Hundreds of test centres all over Norway came with us from Datakortet. From the start we could work widely with established course providers, authorised as test centres according to international guidelines.

Neutral third party
Like Datakortet, we chose to deliver only the testing, never the training. That is what gives a certification its credibility.

Beyond the digital
Early on we moved into subject areas that had nothing to do with computers. The established systems made the whole process more efficient, from a structured curriculum to a completed exam.
